DESCRIPTION:
Here is a vintage MARX tin wind-up "Musical Choo-Choo" toy, dated MCMLXVI (1966), Made in Japan. The toy displays well, but it's a bit dusty/dirty with scattered wear and surface rust (not all seen well in the pictures - mainly inside). The wind-up mechanism works well and the (On-Off) switch works good. When you wind it up the train goes around in a circle while a small disk/ball(?) that's wired too the train, goes up-and-down, hitting different pitched metal note-bar pads - like the toy Xylophones you might be familiar with. Sadly though when the disk/ball hits each note-bar pad - the tone does not ring out with a nice "pin-n-n-n-g-g" sound. Instead what you hear is a short "plink" sound. Plus, one of the metal note-bar pads is missing. The base of the toy measures about 8-1/4" square, give-or-take.
Everything else can be seen in the pictures - which are also part of the auction's description!
